Evaluate the Condition of Your Home
One of the first things that you should consider in advance of your foster care home inspection is the condition of your home. You may even want to have a general home inspection done to ensure that your roof, windows, electrical grid, and other key structural elements are in good condition.
The inspector from child services will be looking to make sure that your home is in good, sound structural condition. It should be free of significant issues, including leaks, roof damage, outdated and damaged windows, and more. You'll also want to be sure that there are no indications of a pest infestation.
Think About the Safety Issues
When it comes to passing a foster parent licensing home inspection, safety is another important factor. That means that each bedroom must have a smoke alarm and a functional window to the outside in case of an emergency. In addition to smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors are typically required as well. You should also have a fire extinguisher on each floor of your home.
